It's Kellion's Turn and he has it bad!

Oh how the mighty fall - in love that is! We finally get to see the story of Kellion and who wins his heart! In usual Marian fashion, she pairs the least likely couple and makes them seem real and get you wanting to keep turning the pages. Even though this book can be read as a stand alone, reading this as part of the whole Heart Racer series makes you really appreciate his story all the more. We finally get to see what makes Kellion tick, and get his background story on why he is the silent, broody type. Of course, only the best can bring out the best in him, and we see that throughout this entire story. If you haven't read any of the Heart Racer series, this can be read as a standalone, and I highly recommend this book!

You Don't Need To Talk To Be Heard

This is one of the realist books I've read, it hit home in the sense that everyone wants to be SEEN not just viewed as who they are..Kellion is too sweet even when he messes up, he just wants people to notice the real him not the biker everyone sees... Aria reminds me of me how even if you like/love something you won't admit to it because it's too embarrassingly mushy to be you.. Kellion and Aria make the cutest couple.. Their trial an errors depict real people with real problems.. I love how they both bring out the best of each other and help heal each other..To See You Don't Always Need To Use Your Eyes You Just Need An Open Heart And Accept That Person For Who They Are !!!!!!!!! A MUST READ!!!!

Anticipated loving this book and could barely hold on until it was released.
Delayed gratification is oh so satisfying. Twelve agonizing days to wait for "Kellion" from email notification of upcoming release.

Very abridged

As noted in the product description, this is a shortened version of the classic story, written for new readers. There is nothing wrong with it, except that a lot of the magic of the original is in the details, which are rather left out here. A somewhat regretted purchase, because the classic version proved to be almost as easy to read, for a child who loves the discovery of reading, and much more interesting. Larger print is nice. There are no pictures in the paperback copy.

Though marketed as a children's book, I have greatly enjoyed reading it many times over the course of my life. I first heard the tale as it was read to me by my grandmother as a toddler and have returned to it time and again over the years.Like The Little Prince, it is a book for all ages and points in life and reminds the reader to stay true to yourself and beliefs no matter the circumstances and that no mater class or condition, people are all important.

Every young person needs to be read The Little Princess at least once in their childhood! This is a classic to be reread and shared. Sara is a true heroine worthy of emulation. Please don't pass this one up!
I already owned a copy but bought this one as I'm a sucker for a beautiful cover. My 15 year old grabbed it as soon as it arrived and read it for herself even though it's been read to her at least twice. She devoured it and declared it much better than the movie.

Not Nietzsche

This is a brilliantly written novel, that moves you along quickly. The characters are reasonably well described, although it is hard to understand how the protagonist could have been married 4 times - that idea is not developed well and only serves the somewhat cartoonish purposes of the author. The novel is pretentious, in the way of those long and entertaining college discussions and it is not clear what the point is, unless the point is the hoary existential premise that there is no point. So, as a self-important work of philosophy, it is sophomoric, but in a somewhat charming way. If you've enjoyed exploring the meaning of life with your peers, you'll enjoy this book. It's a good read, but don't take it too seriously - Don de Lillo writes well, but Nietzsche he ain't.

Occasionally brilliant, ultimately unsatisfying

I'm not sure what to think of Don DeLillo. White Noise, like Mao II, like Underworld, like End Zone, is a book bursting with ideas and observations about people, the world and modern life. And some of these observations will make you see things in a new way, or at least crystallize your thoughts so perfectly that you nod your head and say, "Yes, that's exactly what I think. Now why didn't I say it like that?" Well, because you're not Don DeLillo. So give the man credit, because that's something few people can do. At the same time White Noise shows up one of DeLillo's bigger flaws: he doesn't really create characters you care about, even a little bit. Indeed, in White Noise I'm sure he didn't want to. They're not real characters at all, only a group of signifiers and commenators who all speak with the same voice and even use the same expressions, whether they are ex-sportswriters, housewives, sulking teens, or nine-year-old girls. By page 300 this gets tiresome. Intellectual insights are more memorable when they are hung on interesting and engaging characters. So while I enjoyed White Noise and am impressed with the mind behind it, I found it ultimately unsatisfying.

Somehow I missed Delillo along the way and discovered him through a review of his newest book "Zero K". Delillo writes the kind of prose that frequently makes you stop reading the passage so that you can return to savor it again. The book is laugh-out-loud funny (Check out the family trip yo the mall) but also profound and moving. I think I've found a new favorite author.

A book full of everything.....

I just finished Moonfire by Linda Lael Miller and didn't think I would like another book as much....but then I read Angelfire. The characters we fantastic, the story line has so many twists and turns...very exciting, very enjoyable reading...it had me hooked until the very last page. A definite "must read"!

Fan of Miller, but not Angelfire

In Angelfire, Miller departs from her usual stories based on strong characters and relationship. The main characters in this book never form a true loving bond and they continue in an emotionally withdrawn and abusive relationship through the last pages of the book. I kept waiting for insights as to why the female character would allow this, but this was never answered. With her next book, I hope Ms. Miller will return to writing about relationships based on strong individuals forming partnership-relationships.

He and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Lincolnville, Maine.

Beautifully written, easy to understand ideas

This book has provided me with a structure through which I can begin to think more openly about ethics. It has surprised me with a number of new ideas, most of which are relevant to all of us. I highly recommend this work to those who care about living a thoughtful life. Ethics this way is not stodgy and limiting, but expansive and exciting.

Survivors live to witness

A close and penetrating look at how the survivors of the Nazi and Stalinist death camps came through such horror in human ways. Des Pres explodes the myths about the Jews going to their deaths "like sheep;" of survivors saving their own lives by becoming amoral; of those who lived suffering from "survivor's guilt." Rather, says Des Pres, survivors felt an obligation to the dead to bear witness; survivors lived by maintaining their moral sensibilities and by cooperating with one another and sharing in each other's tribulations and successes; to survive in the conditions of extremity found in the death camps was, in itself, an act of resistance. Humans are social by nature of their very biology, says Des Pres, and this is perhaps our main hope in this century. His depiction of survivor as "hero" is a welcome contrast to the numerous dead heroes of Western literature -- and a necessary one in this century of atrocities. Des Pres also wrote _Praises and Dispraises: Poetry and Politics, the 20th Century_ and _Writing Into the World: Essays 1973-1987_ -- both important books about the social and political role of the poet (and other writers). It's unfortunate that these two volumes are currently out of print.

Surviving

I have never read a more important or more accurate account of life in a concentration camp. Des Pres gives a new and important meaning to the word 'courage.' Des Pres' analysis of courage provides the lie to the depiction of Jews succumbing like sheep to the Nazi horror. He clearly demonstrates the courage it took to stay alive, to bear witness, to resist. Furthermore, he provides a base for understanding the meaning of the courage it took for Jews to survive 1,000 years of Christian efforts to debase Jews in their European diaspora- the courage to survive and live as Jews. I am only sorry that I did not discover this book earlier in my life.

extraodinary book

I read this book many years ago, when it was newly published. It still resonates in my memory as the most acute, most gripping, most honest and above all most honorable account of why human beings survived the Holocaust and the Gulags. It is my belief that this gentleman, who was an English professor, not a historian, did more to change what I have always thought were negative, hurtful and incorrect ideas ---see Bruno Bettleheim et al ---of what constitutes a survivor. He also makes it clear that all the survivors did not survivors. An immense accomplishment.

Extremely well documented, great companion to Qur'an

I must say i'm truly enjoying this book. I'm reading the Qur'an for apologetic purposes, and knowing that the Qur'an's chapters (surahs) are not in historical order (just longest to shortest), and even the verses in the surahs aren't given at once and can be peace-mealed, it's great to know what verses came about for what reasons.

Each claim is well documented with the page and source from islamic texts, which as one who shies away from speculative statements without any evidence to back it up, or taking items out of context, means a lot to see this level of documentation.

If you want to get a good understanding of Muhammed this book is it. I pray some muslims read as well and take a skeptical look at their faith, and the person who had a verse from alah for any sinful whim he had.

M. Hashem Pesaran is the John Elliot Distinguished Chair in Economics and professor of economics at USC Dornsife, the Director of the USC Dornsife Institute of Economic Thinking, and Director of Centre in Applied Financial Economics at USC. He is also a Fellow of Trinity College, and an emeritus Professor of Economics at Cambridge University. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Cambridge University. Prior to 1979 he headed the Economic Research Department of the Central Bank of Iran and served as Under-Secretary of the Iranian Ministry of Education. Dr Pesaran is a fellow of the British Academy, the Econometric Society, and the Journal of Econometrics. He has received the George Sell Prize and the Royal Economic Society Prize. He has more than 200 publications in the areas of econometrics, empirical finance, and macroeconomics and the Iranian economy. He is a co-developer of Microfit, an econometric software package published by Oxford University Press.

An interesting read

I gave this three stars to this, as there are some unexpected twists in a somewhat interesting story. I especially liked the treatment of Sigyn - which stuck quite close to the lore - but I was a bit disappointed at some other details that smacked obviously of Marvel's influence. The story is also heavily pro-Christian, though the balance is rather fragile between the 'opposing forces'. The story wandered a bit in parts that I suspect might be due to translation. Maybe some of the overall story needs might be fleshed out in the sequels.

A moderate success, in my opinion, and I'm pleased to see that this piece finally has been translated to English, nonetheless.

I really hope more of the books will be translated, as I can't wait to read more about Loki, and the world in "Klamca".

In this fictional universe, the Christian God is real and so is the war in Heaven when Lucifer rebelled. The pagan gods also exist and today at least some of them are wandering the Earth minding their own business. Which, in Loki's case, is lying.

Another war is brewing among the angels, and those in Heaven realize that lying would be a valuable tool for their side. Unfortunately, they are by nature incapable of it. Which is where Loki comes in.

So we've got a proper trickster Loki who is more amoral than evil, who's fighting on the side of good but in his own way and for his own self-serving reasons. The characterization of Loki is what it should be and the story is well paced and pulls you in.
