Serves as a valuable supplement

As stated by the author, this book consists of various addenda and period sources used in the writing of DID MOSES EXIST. Most of it was interesting, although the Dionysus/MOSES chapter did get a little repetitive. About half of the book is The Epic of Gilgamesh, which I'll be reading later as part of a larger book on Mesopotamian mythology. Still, it's a great compilation and serves as a valuable supplement. Important note: a few of the sources are only presented in their original language (which means I skipped them).

No, he didn't.....

The companion book to "DID MOSES EXIST: THE MYTH OF THE ISRAELI LAW GIVER" is a helpful guide.

I knew the Gilgamesh story of several thousand years ago preceded the Moses story, but I didn't realize how much of a myth the Jews thought Moses was. Israeli archaeologists have combed the Sinai for clues of his, and some 600,000 Jews and their hungry animals, and found not the tiniest sliver of evidence that any tribe remained there for even an overnight camp out, let alone 40 years. After all of that manna from heaven in the form of doves there has to be at least thousands of tiny bones scattered about....but nothing exists.

I think a thorough study was done by the writer to come up with this book. The myths of the bible were shown just as that, myths. No evidence was found for this epoch up to date, the so claimed evidence was in most cases wish full thinking of people who wants to prove something.

he is a pretty cocky arrogant guy

i have been to one of Cook's trading seminars at his business centre in central Ohio, he is a pretty cocky arrogant guy. The first thing he says to everyone once they are seated is to thank them for losing money in the market. implicit in this is that you are giving it to him. In this long interview he repeats himself a lot and uses terms he doesn't bother to define. I have no idea what a heavy market is. I shouldn't have to guess. he predicts that if there is a 30% correction institutions will fail . peoples lives will be ruined and many will never recover, then he says he is not trying to scare anyone or create a panic or fear.
i agree a bear market is coming but it is hard to like this guy. The one really useful piece of information i got out of this was when he talked about how to recognise a bear market.
Iff the market corrects four percent or more and then doesn't bounce back at by least half of that correction then the bear market has begun.

Bunch of opinions, mainly on the surface. No actionable recommendations, not specific enough. Basically he says "I'm right, watch out, good luck, you'll need it." Not worth 50 cents, much less the "Kindle Price."

The knowledge to understand portfolio construction

I thought this book did an excellent job of explaining the individual asset options that might comprise an investment portfolio. Each asset piece of the investment pie was broken down to explain the reasons for including in a portfolio and interaction with other investments in the portfolio. There is a lot of information on the internet regarding example portfolios and their performance over time; this book helps you understand why they perform the way they do. A good easy read for those starting to invest or for those who need to reevaluate an existing investment plan. If you are following the advice of an investment broker or thinking about it, this would be a good book to read before meeting with the advisor. This book exceeded my expectations and I would buy again. Highly recommended.

A WONDERFUL START TO A SERIES. CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT ONE.

I ran across this book in a reading group. The cover and blurb drew me in and I’m so glad I decided to read it. There are tons of books about teenagers who suddenly discover they’re special. Unfortunately, the books themselves aren’t. It’s all on how the characters are portrayed, and this one fits the bill.

The main protagonists is sixteen year-old Melanie. She’s overweight, has a huge inferiority complex, and has been bullied most of her life by Sissy. Even though Sissy is nothing but a mean, spiteful person, she is the epitome of what Melanie wants to look like. It doesn’t help that Melanie also has the hots for Jeremy, someone she’s known must of her life, but he only sees her as a friend. Unfortunately, Sissy has her eye on him too.

One fateful day, at a party, Jeremy strolls in with Sissy on his arm, who proceeds to belittle and bully Melanie. Upset, Mel takes off on foot to go home, in the dark, alone, and along the way, she’s attacked. Someone has had his eye on her for awhile,and now it’s his time to make her his. Her savior is a huge dog Melanie has never seen before. Who is the dark man that assaulted Mel? And why is he still stalking her?

I have to admit, I figured most of the plot out pretty fast, though I was sidetracked at one point. But I didn’t care, as I really fell in love with the characters. I enjoyed the banter between Mel and her best friend, Tara, and caught myself chuckling a few times over their antics. Wendi Wilson did an awesome job portraying the insecurities of a teenager in high school. Even though it’s been 40 years since I graduated high school, she took me right back to all the teenage drama.

Most of the story is about Melanie and coming to terms with her body, finding the guy that’s stalking her, and the developing relationship between her and Jeremy. The paranormal elements were slowly blended in and I anxiously waited to see who Melanie really was. I was mildly surprised to find out the real answer. This book does leave you on a cliffhanger, and I definitely want to read the next book in the series.

I didn’t find anything really wrong with the tale, other than some very minor proofreading issues. The plot was fast, the characters relatable and likeable, and it was well-written. I highly recommend it for YA lovers of the paranormal and I give it 5 feathers. Well done.

Why I loved Shadowed Strength

Prologue
This was one fantastic prologue, I normally never mention these. Fear trickled over my spine and I could sense the danger Mealnie was in.

The book is sooo easy to read - I don't mean that the language is simple but the writing style is perfect and the story flies swiftly.

Melanie
Every girl will be reminded of their teenage years after reading about Melanie.
Melanie was slightly overweight, was trying to find herelf and had a bitchy nemesis.
Her character development was depicted well. She went from shy, insecure, non confrontational to confident & someone who can take a stand for herself.

Creepy Mystery Attacker
Melanie was dealing with a serious problem here and her reactions were believable. The mystery was written well and it had a red herring too. I think it set a good example when Melanie planned to overcome the situation instead of tolerating torment.

Tara She was EVERYTHING a best friend should be and that's the highest compliment I can think of right now.

Jeremy
Usually boys in high school are portrayed as nerds, jocks, jerks or some combination of these traits.
Jeremy was swoonworthy, a knight in shining armour, how most of us fantasized our First Love should be. He was kind, patient, funny, protective, considerate, I have a never ending list of praise...

Complete Package
This book had a lot of elements like mystery, paranormal, young romance, friendship, family, the search for your identity and they come together perfectly.

Cliffhanger
The story has a massive cliffhanger but fortunately, I have the sequel and can get started soon.

This was a perfect blend of YA romance & paranormal and is highly recommended to readers of both genres.

Melanie - from inadequate to extraordinary

Melanie is a normal sixteen-year-old girl, living a normal life and going to a normal high-school - as far as she knows. She has a crush on a normal, howbeit very attractive boy, who regards her only as a friend - as far as she knows. Her biggest problem – up to this point - is a poor body-image, due in large part to a malicious classmate who has belittled and persecuted her from early childhood. Melanie’s greatest assets, when the story opens, are her loyal best girlfriend and her loving mother. With their help, she is overcoming her shyness and groping her way to a normal social life. All of these factors, and several new ones she does not yet know, come together at a party that changes everything.
The narrative is confident and steady. The language and style are appropriate to an adolescent readership – as far as I know: the running conversation between the girls seems natural. There are a few strong words, but no profanity. There is some violence, but it’s brief and not too graphic. The moral tone is consistently high, both in dealing with teenage sexuality and in regard to respect, concern and consideration between friends. It won’t teach young readers anything untoward – unless perhaps reliance on the supernatural.
For me, the plot is a bit slow; while the suspense builds, actual events are few and far apart: by the time they arrive, the surprise is quite gone. The dialogue and action tend to be repetitious. I admit I don’t know what teenaged girls like to read, or whether they obsess over anything besides boys. For my own part, I’d like them to have a little more intellectual stimulation.

About the Author

Howard Murad, M.D., is a pharmacist and board-certified dermatologist. He is an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California at Los Angeles and was named one of the top four dermatologists in the country by Vogue.

Dr. Murad pioneered many of the advances widely used in skin care and dermatology. In the late 1980s he founded the Murad Skin Research Laboratory and introduced the skin-care industry to over-the-counter alpha hydroxy acid products. At that time, he also opened one of the country's first medically supervised day spas. Since 1992, all Murad products have contained antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents. Dr. Murad's discoveries that specific supplement formulas could have dramatic effects on the skin led to the introduction of Internal Skincare� in 1996. Dr. Murad also continues to maintain a private practice in Los Angeles.

Hard to find all the recommended supplements

Book is good and Dr. Murad gives good advice, along with a strong rationale to back it up. However, unless you feel like shelling out $125 a month on supplements from the Murad brand, it is hard to find the supplements.

Buyer Beware!

I bought Dr. Murad's vitamin pack, and followed his regime. After about 21 days, I started to become violently ill about 3 hours after taking the vitamins. Thinking I had the stomach flu, this went on for several days until I realized that the vitamins were actually toxic to my system. Not only was there extreme vomiting, diarrhea, but I became very itchy. Wherever I scratched, I would develop severe bruising! I think Dr. Murad should be very careful prescribing the same amount of vitamins for ALL women. Many factors should be taken into consideration, like weight, health history, etc. By the way, I was in excellent health prior to this regime, just had some cellulite that I wanted to get rid of. The good news is, that I should recover 100%, but there are some long term, permanent effects to vitamin toxicity that all buyers should be aware of.

Does NOT work !!! May be harmful...

The suggestions/solutions in this book do NOT work. I wasted over $250.00 on vitamins and followed the recommended regime for over 3 months (As opposed to the suggested 2 months... to give the program the benefit of the doubt after failing to observe any form of promised results). I am a 5'4, size zero female and I have cellulite in my thighs. After following the program outlined in this book I now have varicose/spider veins which I did NOT have before following the suggestions of this book! As part of the vitamin/supplement regime, this book instructs its user to take antioxidant, biotin and niacin pills. I read an article in Reader's Digest that said these supplements could actually be harmful! It appears the antioxidants may have contributed to giving me varicose veins. Do not make the same mistake I made... go to the gym and build up the muscle in your legs. That may help, but the program in this book certainly will not.
